Videogames and Violence: A Nothingburger

I just completed an 18-month study of games and violence. Conclusion: There’s no connection. The story has been uploaded at Medium. Use this link to view it for free.

I concluded that the existing research is unreliable, and in a new set of statistics, I found that interest in violent video games has no significant effects on state-level violent crime.

In sum, there’s no evidentiary basis for changing public policy with respect to video games. Put simply: If we banned all video games, we’d have just as many mass shootings as we do now.

We all know the real cause of shootings: Broken families. But we won’t change the culture around family formation. America, you’re getting the sandwich you ordered. Stop complaining. And stop blaming games.
